Celebrating 10 years.....

Khagol Vishwa (खगोल विश्व) is an organisation of Amateur Astronomers in India, working to popularize astronomy and science in society. Khagol Vishwa arranges Star Gazing Programs, Lectures for students in school and colleges, Exhibitions on Astronomy, Astronomy Camps. Khagol Vishwa is a main organiser of Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Congress along with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

  • Annular Solar Eclipse, Rameshwaram.

Science Odyssey Participants successfully observed the Annular Solar Eclipse on 15th Jan from Mandapam, near Rameshwaram. Vishwa Scientific along with Khagol Vishwa had arranged thiss week long study tour for astronomy lovers and students. Participants also visited Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, Trivandrum, Weather Observatory, Trivandrum. We are in the process of adding more pictures as well as videos of the eclipse and Science Odyssey Tour, so stay tuned!

    Major Khagol Vishwa Events and Programs in International Astronomy Year 2009




    Medium rain expected for next 2-3 days on western coast and south peninsula. (Trivandrum). Dry weather is expected at Rameshwaram during eclipse duration.- IMD report.

As we can see in the satelite picture, a large patch of cloud is present over western coast. Even though it's moving towards west due to the winds from east direction, Science Odyssey tour participants are requested to keep raincoat, or umbrela with them as there might be a rainfall in Trivandrum and even in Madurai.

The World is celebrating year 2009 as an International Year of Astronomy. As a part of global effort to popularize astronomy among common people, Khagol Vishwa celebrated Astronomy Week from 1st April - 7th April. Every evening, Khagol Vishwa had set up telescopes at different locations in Pimpri-Chinchwad Area to enable people, a chance to view heavenly bodies, Moon and the planet Saturn.

Starting from the Moraya Gosavi Mandir at Chinchwad; Bhel Chauk, Shivaji Uday Mandal Ground (Chinchwad), Ajmera Colony (Pimpri), Lande Chauk (Bhosari), Sai Mandir (Kalewadi), Sai Chauk (Sangvi) were the other locations of the event. The event was a huge success. Around 6000 people attended it throughout the week.

२००९ हे वर्ष आंतरराष्ट्रीय खगोल शास्त्र वर्ष म्हणून साजरे करण्यात येत आहे. याचाच एक भाग म्हणून खगोल विश्वने १ एप्रिल ते ७ एप्रिल या दरम्याने "खगोल शास्त्र आठवड्याचे" आयोजन केले होते. या आठवड्यात दर दिवशी संध्याकळी, खगोल विश्वने शहरातील वेगवेगळ्या ठिकाणी दुर्बिणींची व्यवस्था केली. सुमारे ६००० लोकांनी या वेळी दुर्बिणीमधुन चंद्र व चंद्रावरील विवरे, शनि, शनिची कडी व त्याचे उपग्रह पाहण्याचा आनंद घेतला.

कार्यक्रमाची सुरवात मोरया गोसावी मंदीरापासून झाली. भेळ चौक (निगडी), शिवाजी उदय मंडळ (चिंचवड), अजमेरा कॉलनी (पिंपरी), लांडे चौक (भोसरी), साई मंदीर (काळेवाडी), साई चौक (नवी सांगवी)या ठिकाणी या कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

Total Solar Eclipse
22 July, 2009

Participants of Study tour arranged by Galaxy Scientific and Khagol Vishwa successfully observed the Total Solar Eclipse on 22nd July morning. Around 60 astronomy enthusiast from Pune as well as other places like Kolkata and Japan enjoyed the heavenly drama of diamond rings, corona and Bailey's Beads.
