About Amateur Astronomy Camps/Workshops
Since 2002, Khagol Vishwa is arranging Basic and Advance Astronomy Camps for Students in May every year. These camps are usually of four days and are of residential in type. We invite Scientists, Astronomers to guide participants and make them familiar with the basic and advance astronomical concepts. The aim of these camps is to guide students who are interested in Astronomy and make them a better amateur astronomer.

Khagol Vishwa arranged Basic and Advance Amateur Astronomy Workshop between 23 May - 27 May this year. Around 40 students from 7th Standard and above participated in this Workshop. With the aim of developing young Amateur Astronomers, the basic and advance concepts of Astronomy were covered in the workshop time. Participants learnt how to use telescopes and other astronomical instruments. and also learnt about the observational techniques and to take scientific observations of various Astronomical events.

Participants were devided into Basic and Advance Groups. For advance group, advance concepts of Astronomy and Astrophysics were covered. For these participants, there was a telescope making workshop where they learnt theory of telescope making and built a low cost refractor telescope as their practical assignment

For Basic Participants, very basic concepts of Astronomy were covered. For practical assignment, they were further devided into four groups. The assignment for them was building a Spacecraft Lander. They were asked to design a parachute system which will land a capsule and content inside it safely on the ground.

Along with Astronomy, there were two discussion/chit-chat sessions about current social issues, Sports every evening, and Yoga Session every morning.
