IMO Live Visual Data Quicklook for Leonids2009

Leonid Meteor Shower is one of the most important meteor showers of the year. This year, Scientists were expecting an outburst in meteor activity, which might give opportunity to observe around 500 meteors throughout the night. To avail this opportunity to observe this rare event to astronomy lovers, school students etc, and also to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the organization, Khagol Vishwa arranged a star gazing program on 17th night at Kadus village, near Rajguru Nagar. The program was open for everyone. Along with the Sky night introduction, there was slideshow and lecture on Comets and Meteor Showers explaining the science behind this phenomenon before Meteor Shower peak.

Around 200 astronomy lovers including students from S. P. College, M.I.T. Pune and Netaji Shubhashchandra Bose Sainik Highschool, Fulgaon participated in this event. Around 40 observers took scientific observations of the meteor shower, some of which, were sent to International Meteor Organisation.
