Mission Mars
A Virtual Journey of the Red Planet

On 2nd May, Khagol Vishwa arranged a mission to the red planet, Mars; a themed star gazing program. The global warming is the most important issue these days and there's still lot work to be done to make people aware of the danger is posses to earth's environment. The global warming can trigger the series of events, that might make our planet uninhabitable for certain period. So, at the start of the program, a short documentary, telling the story of how earth was made uninhabitable temporarily due to mankind's constant damaging activities to the environment and the flight of mankind to the neighbour planet, Mars, was shown.

After the movie, around 1 am, there was introduction to the Martian Sky with the help of Software Simulation, Followed by the Earth night sky introduction. After that, there was a brief introduction about Mars, the similarities between Mars and Earth. Then people were taken to the Martian like geological sites that were created by Khagol Vishwa members. There, members explained geological features in more detailed as well as the Phoenix mission, which model was built for the site.

One of the Main highlights of this program was "Mars in 3D". There were print outs of Mars Stereo Images, which if viewed through Blue-Red glasses, give 3D effect. There were also small models of Mariner Valley, Polar Ice Cap and Olympus Mons
